Room 1 Celebrates ANZAC DAY 2015
Today was a very special day in Room 1. We celebrated ANZAC
DAY. We started the day off with Charles (Arlo’s Grandad) showing us his Dads
war medals and sword. We got to hold the medals and the sword (with Charles
helping us as it was very heavy/big and sharp). Charles made us line up like soldiers
and the Queen (Mrs Murray) had to “inspect” us as she walked passed. After Charles
came to visit we talked about the soldiers crosses in particular Sgt R.C Travis.
Mrs Murray talked about him and showed us a picture. We went and placed his
cross in our remembrance garden. We then took a minute silence to remember the soldiers
that died for us in the wars.
After lunch we got to try YUMMY ANZAC biscuits, MMMMMMM. We
talked about why they are called ANZAC biscuits and how they were made. We then
read the big book “Dawn Parade” Mrs Murray and Fairy Judy talked about what it
is and what it means. We also listened to ‘The Last Post’ and it made us feel
very sad. We got to make poppies using paper and popsicle sticks. Poppies are
very important to us.
We had a great day. We will remember them.
